The small house of Barbeito was founded in 1946 by Mario Barbeito, and is run today by his grandson, Ricardo de Freitas. Since Ricardo took over in 1991, he has concentrated on recreating the authentic old styles of Madeira, naturally aged in casks by the Canteiro method. His Madeiras all display a complexity and vibrancy that take the breath away.
Luscious medium-sweet madeira, with good acidity and citrus character. Perfect with cheese, puddings, foie gras or as a digestif.
Notes of toasted almonds and honey. Lightly caramelized on the palate. Good with cheese, Christmas pudding and crystalized fruits..
